Tesla fan You You Xue crashed his Model 3 in Greece.
Prior to taking his Model 3 to Greece for an unofficial road trip, You You was advised by Tesla not to do so. The Model 3 is only being delivered to the US and Canada at this point in time. As such the car has no internet connection and has not been appropriately configured and approved for use in other countries, yet.
You You claims Autopilot was engaged at the time when the car gave the center divider a love tap. The car apparently swerved into it unexpectedly. Tesla advises that autopilot should only be used with you hands on the steering wheel and ready to take over at a moments notice.
It's not too far fetched to understand the disability the car had driving on European roads with no internet connection or mapping available. In addition to on board senors the Tesla cars are designed to utilize a shared data base of roads collected from each car. This car was driving without any of that available.
Don't place too much trust in Autopilot and always be ready to take over. Especially in a foreign country where the car is not released for use yet and at a disadvantage with part of its system disabled.
Even in the US I've has my Model S try to throw me into a few barriers and off bridges. This isn't full autonomous ready yet. Don't treat it like it is.
