Check out our $25 solution to make the Model 3 trunk easier to close with a pair of replacement lift support struts.
Like many vehicles today, the Model 3 does not come with a spare tire. While under warranty, it does have roadside assistance to help with a flat tire, but that can be time-consuming and frustrating, especially if the flat tire is simply due to a nail or other puncture in the tire tread.
To prepare for such a situation, we've assembled a tire repair kit and an air compressor that look good, don't rattle, and fit perfectly in the side pocket of the Model 3 trunk.
Check out our review of an inexpensive Dupli-Color touch-up paint that is a perfect match for the factory metallic grey paint on the Model 3 wheels. It's perfect for curb rash repairs.
Tesla owners Erik Strait and Sean Mitchel set out to achieve their goal of 600 miles on public roads. They achieved 600 plus some, 606 to be exact.
Strait and Mitchel maintained their speed under 25 mph for 32 hours to achieve this record. They streamed the entire hypermiling run on Youtube in case you need something to put you to sleep.
Elon tweeted the following in response to a question on how the pilot project was going: "Pretty good. TinTin A & B are both closing the link to ground w phased array at high bandwidth, low latency (25 ms). Good enough to play fast response video games."
Tesla fan You You Xue crashed his Model 3 in Greece.
Prior to taking his Model 3 to Greece for an unofficial road trip, You You was advised by Tesla not to do so. The Model 3 is only being delivered to the US and Canada at this point in time. As such the car has no internet connection and has not been appropriately configured and approved for use in other countries, yet.
You You claims Autopilot was engaged at the time when the car gave the center divider a love tap. The car apparently swerved into it unexpectedly. Tesla advises that autopilot should only be used with you hands on the steering wheel and ready to take over at a moments notice.
It's not too far fetched to understand the disability the car had driving on European roads with no internet connection or mapping available. In addition to on board senors the Tesla cars are designed to utilize a shared data base of roads collected from each car. This car was driving without any of that available.
Don't place too much trust in Autopilot and always be ready to take over. Especially in a foreign country where the car is not released for use yet and at a disadvantage with part of its system disabled.
Even in the US I've has my Model S try to throw me into a few barriers and off bridges. This isn't full autonomous ready yet. Don't treat it like it is.
Tesla has began ramping up their Canada shipment for the Model 3. This ramp appears to be detracting from thr US shipments. A similar occurence was seen near the end of Q1 2018 when Tesla began focusing on East Coast shipments over West Coast. This was due to the extended shipping time to these areas which was then reverted to the west coast in the last week or two of the quarter. More here:
Musk tweeted a video on Tesla’s Youtube channel and called it a “Tesla quarterly all-hands video.”
There are few bits of footage that are especially interesting in the less-than-two-minute-long video, which might actually become a quarterly thing according to CEO Elon Musk. including a mystery car (Model Y?), the next-gen Roadster, and the Semi.
It seems to feature all of Tesla’s product line as well as recent energy projects around the globe and its production facilities, like the Fremont factory and the Gigafactory 1 in Nevada.
Ther'es also a teaser in the video with a shot of the Model 3 wheel where we can Tesla’s signature red performance calipers, which is likely the dual motor performance Model 3.
Elon Musk's performance on Tesla's earnings conference call have been gathering a lot of media attention where he dismissed analysts' questions as "boring."
One of the analysts cut off by Tesla chief executive Elon Musk during the company's latest earnings call claims to be telling his clients to "hold Tesla accountable" for its performance.
In an open letter entitled "Dear Elon," Joseph Spak defended his questioning.
"Some of these questions can seem dry, boring or short-term focused, but hopefully you can appreciate that anyone looking to invest in Tesla's future must first be comfortable with its present," Spak wrote.
"I would be elated to host you for a webcast or call to talk extensively about all the amazing industry innovations you are driving and dispel any investor misconceptions you perceive," he added.
Musk, who hosted Tesla's earnings conference call last week to detail the company's quarterly progress, grew frustrated by what he characterized as "boring, bonehead" questions from industry analysts.
So when Spak later asked Musk for clarification on the company's Model 3 reservations on the call, he didn't get the answer he was looking for.
"We're going to go to YouTube," Musk declared. "These questions are so dry. They're killing me."
